A customs tariff number, also called a commodity code or HS code, is a numerical identifier that classifies a product based on its nature and is recognized globally by the World Trade Organization (WTO).
It is used to determine import and export regulations. The code indicates whether a product is subject to restrictions, prohibitions, or special duties. It also serves to calculate taxes, such as export duties or excise taxes.
