With the ISS tracking platform, you have a central view of all shipments, including your own fleet of trucks. Through the Track & Trace web service, all tracking data can be transmitted in real-time to your WMS, ERP, shop system, or customer system. To further enhance transparency, ISS generates a proof of delivery that confirms a shipment has been successfully and properly received by the recipient. This proof protects both the sender and the carrier from disputes and can be used as a basis for resolving misunderstandings in case of problems or complaints.

Shipping Management – Questions & Answers

A lot of factors have to be taken into account for shipping management, from which carriers are connected and how rates are compared to the costs of the system and the integration with existing IT. We answer the most important questions about using and connecting multi-carrier shipping systems.

We already support over 280 carriers worldwide — covering parcel networks, postal services, freight providers and CEP specialists. In most cases, activating a carrier simply means switching it on in your configuration; there is no need for a new integration project. If you require a carrier we don’t yet cover, our team reviews the specs and compliance requirements, builds the connection, and provides it as a managed update. This reduces your IT workload and ensures you can scale carrier options quickly.

Most projects go live in 4 to 12 weeks. The exact timeline depends on the number of locations, carriers and systems you want to connect. From your side, you’ll need a project owner and access to your logistics, IT and operations stakeholders. We bring proven rollout templates, test scripts and training packages to accelerate onboarding and reduce risk. That way, your team spends less time reinventing processes and more time shipping.
Integration is possible via REST APIs, webhooks and a web platform. Common use cases include: order data flowing from your WMS/ERP into the system for label generation; shipping events flowing back to your TMS for visibility; and track-and-trace data triggering proactive customer emails from your shop system. We also provide role-based web interfaces for shipping desks and customer service teams, so even users outside IT can benefit immediately. Test environments and versioned APIs make integration predictable and stable.
The software retrieves carrier tariffs and service data in real time. It can compare base rates, surcharges, transit times and service codes across carriers. Business rules let you decide the logic — for example, “choose the cheapest express option under 5 kg,” or “use the fastest economy option if the promised delivery date is at risk.” This ensures you’re always using the most cost-effective or service-reliable carrier according to your own strategy, not just the default option.

We support ZPL II and PDF, which means compatibility with virtually all common thermal and laser printers. Labels can be generated individually or in batch, and the system also creates manifests, customs documents and multi-parcel shipments. Because formats are maintained centrally, you can be confident every label is compliant with carrier specifications and won’t cause failed pickups.

All carrier events are consolidated into one standardized timeline. This eliminates the need to log into multiple portals. You can configure proactive notifications to customers when key milestones occur: handover, out for delivery, delivered, or if an exception happens. These notifications can be sent by email, API or webhook. The result is fewer “where is my order?” calls and faster resolution when issues arise.
Yes. The system automatically generates compliant labels, manifests and customs documentation for international shipments. It can map service codes depending on destination country, validate addresses, and apply routing rules to prevent export errors. This reduces the risk of parcels being delayed at customs and helps you maintain smooth international flows.
Return labels can be generated automatically, either included with the outbound parcel or provided digitally on demand. You can set rules by reason code, geography or time window — for example, “offer free returns within 30 days for domestic orders, but not for export.” All return flows are tracked in the same dashboard as outbound shipments, and you can analyze return reasons to reduce preventable returns in the future.
You can choose cloud or private cloud operation. In both cases, data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Role-based access control ensures only the right people see sensitive data. We also support enterprise authentication methods like SSO and SAML. For customers with data residency requirements, we scope hosting regions accordingly and can operate in environments that meet local compliance needs.
Support packages range from standard business hours through to 24/7 coverage. Each package comes with clear service level agreements for availability, response time and resolution time. Because the software is delivered as a managed service, carrier updates and compliance changes are handled centrally. That means your team doesn’t have to chase new label specs or worry about EDI changes — they’re covered as part of the SLA.
High availability is built in, whether you choose cloud or private cloud. Maintenance and updates are versioned and tested before release. Carrier-specific changes (for example, a new label requirement) are deployed proactively so you remain compliant without extra effort. Planned updates are communicated in advance, and downtime is minimized.
Yes. The system supports multi-site and multi-client operations. Each warehouse, brand or client can have its own ship-from address, carrier setup, and service rules. Permissions can be segmented so teams only see the shipments relevant to them. This is especially valuable for 3PLs and retailers running multiple business units on one platform.

We provide a sandbox for testing, onboarding workshops for key users, and role-specific training for shipping desks, customer service and IT. Go-live playbooks and cutover checklists are included, so the transition is structured and low-risk. After launch, you’ll have access to support and knowledge resources to help new staff ramp up quickly.
